If I use the Android app as a controller and play a local track, I cannot switch to any Radio station unless I stop playback of the local track first. If I use the web GUI or the duet controller I can switch to a Radio station without stopping playback as I would expect. Tried using 7.7.3 and 7.8 .

Did you only try the Logitech App?
This sounds a bit like a problem with the "prevent destructive play" thing, which is newer than the Logi App. Just a wild guess.---

I have no idea what these new settings are meant to do - what's the default to switch it off?

They are supposed to bring up some menu instead of clearing the playlist right away when you tap an item so that you can't accidentally delete it.
There's a setting in the player settings.
But this is just a wild guess, I did not try this out.
I would try another App, me thinks only Logitech's might have that issue. Most of them are better-because-native anyway---

Funny thing is though, if I play a radio station and switch to another radio station that works perfectly, the box opens asking if I want to play it now, next etc. The problem is only when switching from local tracks, that box does not appear. I can also switch back to local tracks from a radio station without stopping.
