Did you see the discussion about the arch flag at build time I linked to?

Yes I did. I'm pretty sure that the arch is already set correctly. The m1 and x86-64 squeezeplay builds are unique and not "fat" binaries and there's no kernel code (kext).

It does appear to be a security "feature" of Catalina and Big Sur. If the dmg file is downloaded and not signed it's flagged as suspect.

I'm still wading through all the details, as if the above statement is true then why does the x86-64 squeezeplay build not suffer from this?

My first guess is that the newer xcode does something to the binary. I build x86-64 on Sierra with xcode 9.2 and no one has reported the issue for it.

I'm going to try building a 64bit MacOS 11+ only binary with xcode 12.4 to see if the same problem as the m1 build happens.

“Squeezelite” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should eject the disk image.

Getting this message on M1 Mac mini. Any way around this?

    Thanks

Delete the file and re-download it?

They had 2 images and both did the same thing . But I found another player that is made for m1's and it worked fine (other than volume control).

M1's are risc based and I think it will take awhile for everything to catch up...just growing pains of new tech. I will try this one again later.

Speaking of tech- Any idea why did Logitech abanded Squeeze box/LMS in the first place? I just recently discovered it by accident and it seems way more versatile than what's out there now.

What version did you try? I've been using v8.0.1 r1360 for a while now
on my M1 Mini. Working perfectly fine.

One of them was Squeezelite-M1-1.9.9r1361.dmg, the other one I have already deleted so not sure.

The windows version works really good though.

That's squeezelite, not SqueezePlay (which this thread is about...).

Not on the M1 Mac :-)

Well that explains things but I wonder how I even got the wrong link. I just checked my mac for the deleted one just to be sure and it's also the lite version, not play.

I found the link where I downloaded it. It is here:https://sourceforge.net/projects/lms...zelite/osx/m1/

I really do have a windows version called squeezelite -x that works well. And another windows version called squeezeplay (squeezelite-x). Not sure why it has 2 names but it also works well.
Ok sorry for the ^*^%%$$ confusion.. I will try squeezeplay (osx -m1) tonight and see what happens.

So why did Squeezebox/LMS get dropped? This seems like a really nice system because it works so many different kinds of devices and not vendor locked.

BTW I just tried to install Squeezeplay on my fiancé's M1 but also got the same error message that the image is damaged and it refuses to install.

When I downloaded it , I saw they had a note about a possible fix for this error but the fix was for the app itself , not the compressed image (dmg) so still no go.
