The vast majority of AVR's digitise all incoming analog signal anyway ,so there is only digital input for quality content analog is for legacy stuff like your vcr .
And Iĺve heard of no AVR with analog bass or speaker management in this decade (a prologic receiver from the late 80's maybe ) ? so if your using your sub for music ,use digitla on any AVR . An of course dsp modes and EQ yep digital .
The very few AVR's that has true analog bypass limits it to 2ch stereo . And actually I think this function is going extinct anyway in new products it was more of a fad in late 90's early 00's

    Squeezelite on JPLAY

Triode - thanks for Squeezelite -- very helpful ... my current working thesis of a highly useable, hifi-capable set up is: iPeng to LMS to Squeezelite to JPLAY to USB DAC...

The problem: When I have SL on JPLAY, driving a M2Tech hiFace, all is fine at or below 96kHz sample rate. at 176.4kHz and 196kHz, a strange thing happens, the files are played back back at ~ 1/4 speed -- very slow and several octaves down. ... oh, this is with LMS switched to stream PCM (LMS >> Advanced >> File Types >> FLAC/FLAC >> Disabled (not Native)).

    Any idea what's going on?

    Thanks!

If you want to stream as pcm at those rates you will need 7.8 version of LMS.

    HELP!! TOUCH>EDO>Micromega Mydac Problem

    Hi All,

First time poster here. I am having trouble getting my Touch to connect to a Micromega Mydac via USB using Triodes's EDO app. When I download the app, I get the message "Kernal Update Failed" but I'm able to go into the Audio Settings and select the Mydac in the Digital Output. It is actually listed as "USB-Audio - MICROMEGA MYDAC". When I select the Mydac, I get "Asynchronous USB 1 dacs may not work correctly without an external USB High Speed hub between the Squeezebox and the dac. Some dacs support a workaround for 44/48Hz playback without a hub. Change @ Settings>Advanced>Digital Output" then two choices:

    - Use with 44/48Hz no-hub workaround
    - Use without workaround - I will add a hub

Whichever one I choose, the Touch automatically reboots and then freezes with a system error ( Sorry, your device had to restart due to a system error. Is it ok if we collect diagnostic information on the issue to help us fix it - then two choices: send or not send. But the Touch is locked and I can't get to Home or anywhere else. If I leave it there, it just continually reboots and comes back with the same system error message.

My only option is to go back and reset to factory settings to get out of it. I've tried pushing the software upgrade, trying ethernet rather than wireless but nothing works. BTW- I've done this about ten times today.

The other problem is that the Touch only "sees" the Mydac if it is set to USB 1.0 and will not recognize the DAC set to USB 2.0 (there is a small toggle switch on the back that allows either connection).

Do I really just need a high speed USB hub? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Somme news about schiit modi dac

    Hi,
The problem with the very good and inexpensive Schiit Modi Dac was exposed previously by Dustinsterk: DAC is recognized, but during boot it crash the squeezebox touch...

It seems there's problem with alsa and pulsaudio (less) and the C-Media CM6631 USB receiver but some people working on it and submit several patch:

On the rear of the Mydac there is a small switch to set the dac for USB2. Try that then try resetting the Touch to default and reinstall EDO. The Mydac does work with EDO.

I'm afraid I have not been following this thread much recently. My time has been spend on developing an alternative squeezebox compatible playback application (Sqeezelite) which allows playback from a wider range of linux and other related devices. If you are interested in squeezebox support of USB based Dacs, then I would recommend looking at the status of our new community project, Community Squeeze: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...munity-Squeeze

Specifically for USB based Dac, this will enable support of devices which are supported by more modern linux kernels than the EDO linux kernel which is restricted to that provided by Logitech and can't be easily patched any further.

    Ronnie,

I did try this previously and tried it again to confirm but as I mentioned above, my Touch ( I actually have two of them so my Touches) will not recognize the Mydac in 2.0 mode. As soon as I switch it to 1.0, it appears in the "Select Audio Output" list and then it's the same problems as above.

How did you get the Mydac to work in 2.0 mode with the EDO?

    Thanks,

    Tom

    Tom;

I have not used my Mydac for a while so I have just done this, it took less than 5 minutes

My touch is running v7.7.2 of the LMS, connected via Ethernet

    Reset Touch to Factory Settings.

Connect Mydac and switch it on, little switch at the back set to 2 and USB connection selected on the front.

Perform the steps necessary to download and install EDO.

Select Mydac from the list, make sure output volume on Touch is set to 100%.

In my case, tune into the Naim exclusive high bit rate of Radio Paradise and enjoy!!
