    Question feature suggestion: In-browser player

How hard would it be to integrate a player into the Logitech Media Server page or a browser plugin? I know it isn't a technical limitation so why not do it? I'm thinking something akin to the way Google Music works but also supporting the more traditional playing through hardware radios. The way I see it cloud-based apps are the true competition for Squeezebox and this is something that should have happened a long time ago but instead we got a buggy, still-doesn't-really-work-properly, not-officially-supported, software client (Squeeezplay).

Does anyone know of such a project? I'd really like to support any such endeavor.

I don't know why they would waste time and effort on more software players. They don't generate any revenue and divert resource away from enhancing the hardware players.

I too would like to see a bit more efforts on the hardware side. The current line up is lacking a Next gen Boom and a player with an on board amplifier.
There are enough software players out there (iTunes, MediaMonkey, foobar, etc).

If Logitech makes a Boom II and sends it to me for free, I promise to learn about the LMS API and make a Squeezebox toolbar for Firefox.

Better get started today, as you'll need to concentrate on testing Boom II
then. I'll let you know when we're ready to ship :-P.

mfaine, I think it would be good if there was such a feature - it adds value to the whole experience. However I think time has caught up with the concept - 4 years ago I would have said YES. Nowadays there are too many other options for this to be worthwhile, I think.

Edit: I would install and use it - but I can't say its missed.

    We neither deny nor confirm.

It's always a good time for rumours.
