guide for storing musing in a SB-friendly way?

There will be as many opinions about this as there are people who own
    squeezeboxen.

As for me, I make sure my tags (mp3 or flac) are absolutely perfect.
That includes genre, artist, song name, year, etc.

Once I got that straightened out, I then reorganized my music
so I could find it easily outside of the squeezebox/slimserver
area. In general, I have it broken up by artist/album/track
layout. In the case where I have music associated with an
artist not gotten from ripping an album, I put that track in the
    root of the artist.

I use this method for everything but classical and old radio shows.
For those, I have folders called classical and radioshows that
are organized by composer and radio show title respectively.

I started that process about a year before I actually purchased
a slimp3. I ran slimserver and used it to assist with the messed
up areas (like Camille Saint-Saens and Camille Saint Saens) that
I might have overlooked had I not seen two separate entries
    when browsing by arist.

If you get the tagging clean, it will be a whole lot easier for
your guests (and other people in general) to find music
that they might like to listen to. Not to mention you'll be
able to possibly eliminate some songs due to duplication.

    Hi all

is there a guide somewhere for setting up your music in a way that
    makes it
easy to use with the squeezebox?

I was also wondering whether there are tools to set the id3 tags in
    mp3
files from the directory/filename information (under Linux)

    TIA

    /Simon

Hmm, I see your point, but that will take a while ;-)

    Thanks,
