Apparently there were some stock of the displays left. Isn't that the same display as in the Classic?

Does anyone actually use the magic knob?

Does anyone actually use the magic knob?

I've had a Transporter for over three years and I can't ever remember using that knob. In other words, is it really worth $500? Short answer: no.

never use mine. In fact, I never touch the transporter at all. Control it from either squeezeplay on my laptop, ipeng, or a controller.

Whether of not one uses the knob would make for a good poll question, although the results would most likely be something along the lines of 99% no and 1% yes.

The SE version has no knob, because the knob part is no longer made I believe. Everything else is the same as the original Transporter, so this is a good deal.

Anybody got a picture of one without the TransNav knob?

I used the knob a few times when the box was new, haven't touched it since. A more important question to me is whether we can still get out of warranty Transporters repaired? I don't really mind tossing a $300 Classic but it would really bother me to have a $2000 boat anchor because the supplier didn't plan for service part availability.

This is the very reason I sold my Transporter 5 weeks ago. I loved it to pieces, it is a fantastic machine but the idea of having a costly paperweight was too much for me. Now enjoying a UnitiQute.

Almost never used the knob. Navigating with my Harmony RC or the web UI.

Disliked the degaussing sound (?) of the knob, anyway...

Same here. In fact I have the displays switched off and never use them, either. It strikes me that when the stock of VFDs drys up, a stripped-down TP without knob or displays would be a worthwhile product - sort of like an audiophile equivalent of the Receiver. But I guess maybe there might be other parts on the motherboard which are also approaching EOL.

On another tack, my view is that if Logitech do have a stock of VFDs, they really ought to be keeping them as spare parts for the SB2/3, not building more TPs.
