At this point I would suggest complaining to AOL that you would like to listen on your Squeezebox. It's out of our hands for the most part.

Right, we aren't a "partner". Some history:
Very early on (2005?) someone in the community wrote a Shoutcast plugin that used their open XML interface to access the directory.
Later, this got moved into MySB and rewritten a couple of times. It always used the open API and rarely had any problems.
Last month, for some reason AOL/Shoutcast decided to only allow official partners to use a new API, and they shut down the old, open API. To those using the open API, there wasn't any way of knowing this unless you happened to read the Winamp forums. [update, see post #53]
So of course, we are happy to become an official partner. Since I expected this would take a long time, I asked for access to the new API in the interim so we could get back up and running. The reply I got to this request was less than helpful, and basically said "sorry, we aren't accepting any new partners now, try again later." This was when I decided to disable the app.
Anyway, we are continuing to try to work on this with them, but if their unhelpful attitude continues much longer we will probably have to give up. Maybe something like the Icecast directory could replace it.Last edited by andyg; 2011-01-18 at 09:19.

Ok well at least that gives me a better understanding on whats going on ,..
I did read in the partner section that they had suspended new partners , but was supposed to be temporary for a very short time I thought ,seems thier main players are still on vacation , so I wouldnt give up on it ,..just may take a while , So far I really do like this device ,...everyone I have shown it to wants one..

OK< how do i get the shoutcast app off of my squeezebox??
Seems one uninstalls apps by going to the app in the App Gallery - if the have the app in ''my apps'' then the entry for that app in ''app gallery' offers uninstall action instead of install....
Sounds... awkward?
But now that the shoutcast app does not appepaar in ''aapp gallery'' I know of no other place to delete it from ''my apps''

Well at least you can manually input the shoutcast stations and get them to work if you so desire. Thats better than nothing and pretty easy

Thanks Andy. It doesn't sound like we will have ShoutCast in the near future (if at all) but we appreciate you keeping the lines of communication open with them.
For those that want to email ShoutCast as a listener that misses ShoutCast on their SqueezeBox player go to http://www.shoutcast.com/, then click "Send Feedback".
Not sure this will do much, but it's worth 30 seconds to send them a note as a SqueezeBox user.
Future alternatives Andy? Anything is better than nothing.
IceCast? IheartRadio? LiquidCompass? I am not familiar with any of these so I do not know how they compare to ShoutCast.
What I really liked about ShoutCast on a SqueezeBox were four main things:
1. Large selection of stations
2. Deep genre separation, they have over 300 genres
3. Most stations ere internet only, *NOT* rebroadcasts of terrestrial AM/FM (we have RadioTime for those)
4. Bitrate Filter to filter out the lower kbps streams and duplicate streams
