I came to the party a bit late on this one, hearing the track 'Van Gogh's Ear' for the first time a couple of days ago. I got the album on the strenght of it. Reminds me a bit of an old Bob Geldorf CD under the name of 'The Vegetarians of Love' from 1990.

Jimi Hendrix - Songs For Groovy Children: The Fillmore East Concerts via Spotify. This is the complete four night series of concerts at Fillmore East over the New Year 1969-1970, over 5 CDs or 8 LPs. I have the original single LP release (Band of Gypsys), and I wondered whether there's merit in this huge set. Turns out to be rather good to my ears...

I'm just listening to Burial's new compilation of EP releases, Tunes 2011 to 2019, on Bandcamp (it's also on Spotify). Quite a few of the tracks contain (probably artificial) vinyl crackle. Am I alone in finding this quite disturbing? Maybe it's a sign of my age that the sound of maltreated vinyl upsets me!

It annoys me as well. I see no point in it. It has no artistic merit. Just release it on vinyl if you want it to sound like vinyl

Well, given my tastes in music veer strongly towards the 'noise' end of the spectrum (e.g. Merzbow), I'm finding my reaction a bit odd. the underlying electronica is kind of OK, but it's the overlaid crackle that annoys me. Weird!
