the transporter is one switch away from the server.

The transporter plays fine through my av amplifier?? (This is pro logicing it!

I am beginning to think it is the DAC that is the problem although it does play some 24/48 flac files.
Transporter or Cyrus streamX>CyrusDACXP>ESPAudio P09B Active filter>Cyrus X x 2>Rhapsody, Avondale and Naim cable, Kubuntu 16.10 server, various boxes for storage.
SB3 Flycatcher 3A linear power supply. Touch also.
    Using SqueezeBoxServer (LMS) 7.9
    Also piCorePlayer>Rega DAC>B4>Avondale 260>Royd Eden Kubuntu 14.10
    also naim 32.5>hicap>140>Akroyd Coniston

the optical output won't lock onto the dac.

the phono output from the transporter works fine.

does this point to the spdif transmitter (or whatever it's called?)

I'm struggling to post a useful part of the log...

I'm not sure anyone caught the fact that you're using an external DAC. Does the Transporter play these same files successfully if you listen to the analog output?

Yes it plays fine through the analogue output.

The non locking onto the opticla input on the dac is now suggesting to me that it's the dac. I've removed it from the system to do some more careful tests. Hold on for the next installment....

In the meantime, thanks very much for all your patience.

I will put together a better log file as well as I am having problems with the file size.

I may ask if I can upload to the ftp site.

I doubt that the server log can lend any useful information for a problem that exists between the Transporter and DAC.

You would be exactly right there...I appear to have wasted everyone's time, sorry folks.

I have just tried the T and SB3 optically and no go, the DAC will work fine on the phono spdif now..

however, trying my sb3 the dac says 48k but with stutter. It looks like the dac is not working properly. Return to maker I believe!!!

I will caress my reliable american gear! and curse the british rubbish....

I will update this for the benefit of any other unfortunates....

I thought Hugh Grant taught you Americans that all Brits stutter. Especially when nervous. Obviously the SB3 isn't quite as intimidating as the Transporter.

Slight flaw in your argument my friend, I live in Cumbria as clearly stated above. I thought you Scots have a good education?

The transporter isn't intimidating at all as it's essentially the same as my SB3s as far as operation goes.

I assumed your location based on your opinion of your US vs British gear.
