Sadly, I have done this.

It turned out to be an exercise in futility and banging my head against a concrete wall would have likely given better results.

It's always something at my end that's causing the problem (according to them). Strangely, I have many other devices working flawlessly on my personal home network. Maybe they are all affected by the same bug that prevents them from not working.
