    Custom Case... the next evolution

It would actually be nice to see Slim Devices offer a kit for the Squeeze
that put the guts into a nice rack mountable case.

The demand is surely there, and I'm sure Slim could bargain for the best
deal possible in having a Taiwanese or Chinese manufacturer crank them out
    by the bucket full.

If they offered a nice anodized finish and maybe a jet black option it would
sell pretty well I think, provided the price point was reasonable (maybe
around $99 for the whole kit).

I think that with the graphic SB now available some sort of premium case
    offer is due.

Father-in-law co-owns an amplifier company. He helped me out. It was done in
a machine shop as a return favor... but you can easily do similiar designes
for less $$$. Such as this one:

Geek connector, well... geeked. Thanks for the tip Sean.

    Custom Case... the next evolution

Not sure I would say that rack mountable is high demand, I don't even
know anyone who owns a rack for audio equipment. Not to say that there
    aren't peeps out there though.

It is definatly cheaper to make a rack mountable faceplate rather than
a full on case like I did though. I actually tried to do this once,
just for the hell of it, but I lost the work in progress when i moved.

just think of all the young popstars who need a good piece of kit so they can
simply scroll through the set list, press play and start lipsyncing. I'm sure
there are a great many Teamsters who would appreciate the easy setup and
stability so that they can get the hell out of there so much faster, and save
    precious brain cells.

With all this talk of quiet server PC's, it seems like it wont be long before
someone considers packing a squeezebox and a VIA board into a single component
case. rack tabs could be optional.
