    Using pre SqueezeOS plugins on an SB Radio

    I have now:

    * SB2 (unused, currently)
    * SB Boom
    * SB Radio (new for xmas!)

    I understand that the Radio uses the new Linux-based SqueezeOS. I'm very impressed with the radio, but I miss the ability to use some old plugins installed on my SqueezeServer. Basically anything that effects the display of the Boom (and SB2) isn't compatible with the Radio (and the other SqueezeOS Squeezeboxes). This is a shame, especially as I've just started work on some simple screen-saver plugins.

    I know the architecture for SqueezeOS is new and exciting, but: is there any plans to emulate some of the old functionality of the "2 line" display so old plugins can be used?

    A more general point: is the Boom to be the last of the non SqueezeOS players? Also, I do love the old green displays, and would be disappointed if all future squeezeboxes used LCD screens.

    You should look at Triode's RetroBrowser plugin. I've not tried it on Radio, however. http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.ph...zePlay_Applets

    I don't know myself, but I would be very surprised if Logitech were to sell any VFD-equipped players 6 months from now. The new platform is more capable, easier to develop for, uses less energy (important as different jurisdictions consider energy efficiency mandates), etc.

    I had a go at installing the plugin but couldn't get far. What do I do with the zip file? I had a look around the Wiki but couldn't figure it out.

    On my Radio I only have about 3 plugins available for installation: Custom Clock, Daylight Clock, and Information Screen. What sets which plugins can be installed on the Radio itself? I tried enabling 3rd party repos, but this only seems to effect SBS plugins.

    My first reply dosn't eem to have been accepted. Will try again?

    How do I install this plugin? I have enabled 3rd party plugins. But the Radio only presents 3 plugins: Daytime Clock, Custom Clock, and Information Screen. Do I have to upload the plugin .zip file somewhere?

    Cheers for your help,
