Cannot set account info after upgrade to 7.4.1

    Hi,

Since I have upgraded to 7.4.1 I'm having problems. I'm running on Win XP

After the upgrade I wasn't able to use Internet Radio, My Apps and App Galery. I received the following error message:

"Couldn't resolve IP address for: www_mysqueezebox_com"

Streaming music from my library still works.

I then re-isntalled 7.4.1 several times and eventually removed it completely before the re-install.

As a result my account is no longer defined. When I try to set the account info in the SBS Control Panel I get the following error:

An unexpected error ocurred while validating your mysqueezebox.com account.

I tried to set the account info through the web tool. The web tool doesn't through an error but still the account info is not being set.

From the Duet I get the following error:

"A mysqueezebox_com account is required for this service..."

Are there any other options to set the account info?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Cool Reset everything

The "can not connect to MySB.com" error can affect clients randomly in Europe especially in the WE - see sticky post in this forum.
I also ran into problems connecting again after an outage, here is what worked for me :

    1. Do not run SBS on the PC ( it will only confuse the Duet even more )
    2. factory reset the receiver ( press LED until flashes rapidly red )
    3. factory reset controller ( choose in advanced settings or press + while powering up )
Then you will be prompted at some point to enter MySB.com account + password.
After that you can start up SBS again and set/verify your MySB.com info.

Still cannot set account on SBS

    Thanks for your help B1tbull.

This helped somehow. At least my receivers and controller can be used again on mysqueezebox.com.

However I still have the problem with the account setting from SBS on my PC. I'm not able to set the account.

Do you think this is related to the problems mentioned in the sticky post "can not connect to mySB.com" and I just have to wait until this is fixed?

Cool Settig MSB.com account on SBS

That's puzzling - I never had a problem in SBS setting that account ( and do actually wonder what it is really used for....)
Based on the error message ( "Couldn't resolve IP address for: www_mysqueezebox_com" ), please look into possible DNS issues.
    Can you test this :

open Dos Box ( Run -> cmd )
try ping mysqueezebox.com : is it replying ?

    C:\Documents and Settings\Francis>ping mysqueezebox.com

Pinging mysqueezebox.com [89.202.121.131] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 89.202.121.131: bytes=32 time=19ms TTL=88
    Reply from 89.202.121.131: bytes=32 time=22ms TTL=88
    Reply from 89.202.121.131: bytes=32 time=23ms TTL=88
    Reply from 89.202.121.131: bytes=32 time=21ms TTL=88

    Ping statistics for 89.202.121.131:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 19ms, Maximum = 23ms, Average = 21ms

    enter nslookup
enter mysqueezebox.com ; do you get the IP address ?

    C:\Documents and Settings\Francis>nslookup
    Default Server: roes.dnscache01.telenet-ops.be
    Address: 195.130.130.5

    > mysqueezebox.com
    Server: roes.dnscache01.telenet-ops.be
    Address: 195.130.130.5

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: mysqueezebox.com
    Address: 89.202.121.131

    Settig MSB.com account on SBS

    I really appreciate your help.

I could ping mysqueezebox.com once I deactivated the firewall (BitDefender InternetSecurity 2009). Btw, I do have a FW exception for squeezeboxcp.exe

But even without a firewall I'm still not able to set the account from SBS.

    Any other ideas?

    Cool Let's try squeezeplay

Still looks like something is blocking the mySB.com login from your PC.
Can you download squeezeplay and install it on the same PC SBS is running on.
Then launch Squeezeplay ( without running SBS ) and check settings->advanced->mysqueezebox.com information.
If this fails , then try again after de-activating all PC firewalls ( BitDefender and XP ), otherwise SBS installation itself is at fault...

    PS. download site is http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.4

    SqueezePlay works but not SBS

I installed SqueezePlay and once I entered the account info everything worked fine. So it doesn't seem to be a firewall issue.

SBS still returns the same error message:

An unexpected error ocurred while validating your mysqueezebox.com account.

Am I really the only one with this problem?

I don't think Squeezeboxserver is called 'squeezeboxcp.exe'... That would just be the 'control panel' not the server itself.

I don't do windows, so no clue what the actually process name is (and whether the '~3' type junk is needed), but I'm pretty sure squeezeboxcp.exe is not the executable name.

    Correct

yeah, Windows sometimes cuts off the SqueezeSvr.exe to squeez~3.exe. That's the server.

    Question Final advise

Well we exhausted all possible causes, except some obscure configuration issue with SBS itself. I know you un- and re-installed SBS already , but maybe you should try it once more, scrobbing all leftover info after the uninstall with the utility I use for this on a regular base ( sent by private message since in is not done to promote "other" software in a forum )
    Running out of tricks now....
