    SBS can't find topLevelObj

    As of this morning, Squeezeboxserver is no longer working. In the server log I keep getting:

    2009-10-10 14:21:53 squeezeboxserver_safe started.
    [09-10-10 14:21:58.9854] main::init (320) Starting Squeezebox Server (v7.4.0, r28672, Mon Sep 28 17:48:40 PDT 2009) perl 5.010000
    [09-10-10 14:23:36.8312] Slim::Utils::Misc::findAndScanDirectoryTree (886) Error: Couldn't find a topLevelObj!
    [09-10-10 14:23:36.8564] Slim::Networking::IO::Select::__ANON__ (140) Error: Select task failed calling Slim::Web::HTTP:rocessHTTP: Can't call method "path" on an undefined value at /usr/share/perl5/Slim/Web/Pages/BrowseTree.pm line 100.
    ; fh=Slim::Web::HTTP::ClientConn=GLOB(0xbd09b20)

    It is not a permissions problem. The music folder and all of its contents have permissions drwxrwxrwx all the way down.
    I uninstalled and reinstalled Squeezeboxserver, but still no dice. What is wrong?
    This system runs on 2.6.28-15-generic #52-Ubuntu. Mysql version is 5.0.75.

    Thanks,

    Jos.

    Two issues really - but things are working again

    OK, this may confuse the issue, but the Squeezeboxserver is actually working happily now. The toplevelObj messages kept appearing in the log exactly every 75 seconds for 2.5 hours, then went away of themselves.

    Meanwhile, on one client PC, the GUI did not serve up the left-hand panel. The browser kept waiting for the server, and this was what made me think the server didn't work. The right-hand one, with the playlist and the player box, was working fine.

    On another PC, the left-hand panel showed up just fine. All my music was still there, despite a reinstall. So I played some, then went back to the first PC (where the right-hand panel had refreshed correctly), clicked on the song title, and hey presto, the left panel reappeared.

    Weird, but what can I say, it works.
