At startup squeezecenter won't connect to internet
(cannot get ip for squeezenetwork.com etc. etc.)
which affects plugins and all radio stations
the squeezebox will 'cannot find ip' aswell just after playing
fine while connected to squeezenetwork...
Restarting as squeezecenter as root solves this - but why?
Have anyone some idea on what is wrong with my installation?

Could be this bug: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=64400
I have the same problem (running 7.3.3, the stable version of Squeezecenter) and I need to restart the squeezecenter daemon every time I reboot in order to have internet radio working.
Hopefully it will be fixed whenever the new stable version is released.

Known problem for SC 7.3.3
Have a look at http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67588
I have the same problem with the stable SC version 7.3.3. Apparently SC does not get a proper connection to the internet when started at system boot, so you have to restart the daemon when everything is nicely up and running.
Hopefully this is fixed in 7.3.4, I haven't checked (I don't reboot my server very often, so it's not a huge problem for me).

No need to be root. Just restart SC.
I heard this is fixed in the current beta releases.
It is a common problem (see this thread) with SC 7.3.3
My fix for it, that seems to hold, is to start SC at the very end of the boot process. By adding extra time between network setup and SC startup, SC "sees" better the networking environment.
If you're on debian/ubuntu or another distribution using the rc.d startup scheme, you can see my fix described here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67588 (message #5)

Thanks,
Renamed /etc/rc2.d/S20squeezecenter to /etc/rc2.d/S90squeezecenter
and I hope that this will correct my problems.
