    Connect MacMini direct to a SB3

    Anybody know how to directly connect a MacMini to a SB3 without going thru a network or if it's possible at all.

    Sure, you should be able to use a regular ethernet cable (don't need a crossover as the Mac should be auto-sensing). You will need to set the IP, netmask etc manually on the SB3.

    Hello and welcome to the Forum.

    I have not actually tried to do this, but I believe all it takes is a Mac Mini loaded with Squeeze Center and an Ethernet cross-over cable. One might need to enable the Mac to see the SB3, but again I wouldn't know until I tried it. Give the Ethernet cable a try and see what you see.

    to reaffirm and add to what has already been posted;

    You will need to manually set the IP address on both the Mac Mini and the SB3.
    You can use a standard Ethernet cable as both devices have the capability to automatically determine whether to function straight through or crossover.

    You will not be able to connect to Internet streams or SqueezeNetwork unless you are using the wireless function of either device to connect to the Internet.
