    SC 7.4 for WHS Thread

    A couple of things today...

    (1) My SqueezeCenter WHS process stopped for some unknown reason. I looked at the server log, and I can't see a reason for it going down...but when I logged into the MSS WHS Console and checked on the settings, it showed that the SC process was stopped, and I had to manually start it up again... I have the option checked to start up the SC process on boot, so it shouldn't be a reboot issue... I'll monitor and see if it happens again.

    (2) The information tab doesn't seem to populate consistently... Sometimes it has useful information on the software revision and clients recognized by SC, and other times it's completely blank. I just took a screen shot of the information tab just now, and it's blank...last night it had information populated...

Yeah, there's still place for improvement here. It should show if SC is
running, or display some warning if not. Don't know why you don't get
anything at all. Can you right click it and force a refresh?

Which Version of SC 7.3.3 or 7.4 for MSS WHS

I recently installed HP MSS and would like to know which version of SC is best, easiest and stable enough to run on the HPx487 server? I have been trying best to follow the forms to determine but not quite sure. I want ot use the MSI rather than install the hard way. Also, if currently nightly not sufficent could you point me to one that would be?

I'm glad you say "stable enough" - go for the 7.4 nightly build. I'd like
to get as much feedback and testing of the new WHS add-in as possible:

Thanks for the link qualify "stable enough" , I mean that this situation would no happen

"I changed from stand alone application to Add In and it broke the Windows Home Server console. It took me 3 days to figure it out to uninstall the Squeezebox server. I still havent figure out how to uninstall any Addin from remote computer, as Console crashed every single time."

I don't know what that user's issue was. But I guess if he had asked here,
he would have been up and running in a shorter time than three days, and I
would have learned what needs fixing :-). There was an issue breaking SC
until a few days ago. But that should be fixed by now.

Please note: there's no stable release for WHS yet. It's under heavy
development (just added more features today). If you want to have WHS
integration, you'll have to live with the risk of some initial trouble.
But imho it should really be pretty painless to install.

I have been running 7.4 WHS version on my MSS EX485 for a couple of weeks and find that it is more than "stable enough"... And the support here is fantastic, so if you run into a problem, post here, and help is just around the corner...

Great job to you and your team Michael!

Iĺve been using the 7.4 WHS version on my EX475 for 6-8 weeks now and I must say in that time it has come on in leaps and bounds and now offers everything a typical user could want in a WHS add in.

Initially I was a bit uneasy using the nightly builds having had problems with the old Windows versions of them when I ran them on an XP machine but since the automatic download feature was activated, I have been regularly using the nightly builds on my WHS without any problems whatsoever.

So thank you to all those involved in the WHS version and its continued development, your doing an excellent job.
