FLAC+que does not play in 7.3.2

I have some of my music cd's in single flac files with a que sheet. When I select these albums to play both the controller and the receiver say they are playing normally but no sound is heard. If I select the flac file directly the music plays. I have also tried SoftSqueeze and have the same problem so it looks like a SC issue and not a Duet issue.

Also skipping to the next or previous song does not work with que/flac sheets either.

I am running SC on a QNAP TS-509 with a SB Duet.

You may need to install sox on your box.

I had this problem when I've upgraded from 7.1 to 7.3.2.

In 7.1, when you had a flac + cue file, sc was using flac to extract the track from the "big" flac file and then sent it to the squeezebox with flac again.

In 7.3.2 (don't know for the version in between), the second step is done with sox.

    hope this help.

Rastafazz is exactly right. The flac flac transcoding system changed recently. Take a look at your convert.conf file. You should see an entry like:

    Code:
    flc flc transcode *
    	# FT:{START=--skip=%t}U:{END=--until=%v}D:{RESAMPLE=-r %d}
    	[flac] -dcs $START$ $END$ -- $FILE$ | [sox] -q -t wav - -t flac -C 0 $RESAMPLE$ -
..near the bottom. You'll need binaries for both flac and sox on your system. But normally, SqueezeCenter supplies these. On linux systems, these should be in /usr/share/squeezecenter/Bin/i386-linux/ and the versions supplied are 1.2.1 for flac, 14.2.0 for sox.

Are you saying that no flac files should work or just the large ones with que files? Most of my library (~97%) are in flac format with each track a separate flac file and they play fine. It's just the ones with all tracks contained in one file that doesn't work.

Only the large ones (i.e. one flac per album).

If the album had one flac per track, it was working fine without sox.

    Well sox is installed:

Both sox and flac are installed:

    [~] # /share/MD0_DATA/SSODS/bin/sox --version
    /share/MD0_DATA/SSODS/bin/sox: v13.0.0
    [~] # /volume1/SSODS/bin/sox --version
    /volume1/SSODS/bin/sox: v13.0.0
    [~] # /volume1/SSODS/bin/flac --version
    flac 1.2.0
    [~] #

What else could it be? I have another post pending with log file information. Maybe that will help?

I have exact the same problem with you,
    the log file said :

"xxxx: /volume1/SSODS/bin/sox stio: Unknown output file format for '-': File type `flac' is not known"

but I can play single flac file smoothly,
if I play cue file, only 4-5 seconds progress in the SB3 progress bar
then jump to next track, no sound output.

    any solution ? thanks !

You need a version of sox built with FLAC support. The standard builds of SC (for Windows, Mac/OSX and Linux x86) come with a suitable binary. My guess is that you need a rebuilt sox for the SSODS platform.

If you do not need the downsampling support that sox provides (for 96000/24 for example), then you could change your convert.conf to use flac instead of sox.

So just change where it says sox to flac?

    flc flc transcode *
    # FT:{START=--skip=%t}U:{END=--until=%v}D:{RESAMPLE=-r %d}
    [flac] -dcs $START$ $END$ -- $FILE$ | [sox] -q -t wav - -t flac -C 0 $RESAMPLE$ -

Why does flac have to transcoded to flac?
