The update to SharkPlay for Squeezecenter 7.3 is ready and can be installed using the Extension Downloader (ED) a new feature of 7.3 which is accessed through Settings/Plugins/Extension Downloader/settings.

Install instructions for SharkPlay plugin are below following some explanation about the ED.

    About Extension Downloader
The Extension Downloader (ED) is an automated method for installing, updating and removing plugins, applets, InfoBrowser Addons etc from repositories. Currently the public repository is small but it will be expanded to hold popular/recommnded plugins etc.

Currently most Plugins are in private repositories and the user will have add URLs to the "Additional Repositories" list. The SharkPlay is in my repository at URL. URLs for other repositories can be found here http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.ph...r_Repositories

Feedback on the functionality, ease of use, shortcoming, problems etc on ED is needed so that it can be improved for the next release.

    To install SharkPlay plugin
    1. If you have a version of the SharkPlay plugin already installed in SC 7.3 then it needs to be deleted and SC restarted SC.
    2. Open SC Setting/Plugins/Extension Downloader/Settings
    3. Add this URL http://bpaplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/repo.xml to "Additional Repositories" and click Apply.
    4. A list of Plugins should be displayed. Check the box opposite the SharkPlay plugin and click apply.
    5. If Installation is successful - restart SC.

The Extension Downloader does not install plugins into the server/Plugins or the server/Slim/Plugin directory. It will install plugin into a new directory called InstalledPlugin in Sc's cache directory. The path to the SC cache directory can be found on the Settings/Information web page near the bottom of the page.

Using ED is the preferred installation method but if the user really wants to install manually from a zip file then the SharkPlay plugin is available from the following location
    http://code.google.com/p/bpaplugins/downloads/list

Does RadioShark2 work with this plugin on a Linux Machine (Ubuntu 8.10)?

    Thanks.

Yes but usually the USB device is protected so you have to make the shark2 app in the SharlPlay/Bin privileged or make the USB devices writeable by all users. The instruction were are in the original forum post.

    such as

    chown root shark2
    chmod +s shark2

I'm having a weird issue on 2 of 4 squeeze devices. Nightly at 12:00am the SB turns on and tunes to a Shark radio station. Actually it's starts up in the manual tune mode. Niether SB has any alarms enabled.

It was only happening on one device until yesterday. It starting happening on my SqueezeBoom devcie too after I changed my network router and had to setup the SqueezeBoom from scratch.

    Any ideas?

What is your "power on Resume" setting for the player ?
Was Sharkplayer the last item playing ?

The following thread related to unexpected SB wakeup when attached to SN. I wonder whether something similar is happening

    Interesting thread!
But I think this problem is slightly different.
It wakes up at exactly 12:00am and starts playing the shark player.
Doesn't matter whether last play was using my server, squeezenetwork, or another service like Sirius Internet Radio. Always wakes up and start playing the radio shark.

    I just did the following:
    - played a song from my home server
    - turned off SqueezeBoom
    - set my server clock to 11:59pm
    - waited 1 minute
    - SqueezeBoom turned on at 12:00am and starting playing RadioShark with Now Playing showing "shark://{QUERY}?Title="

Where do I find Power on Resume?

Power on Resume - is in Settings/Player / Audio - there is a different setting for each player.

Do you use the manual Tune-in ?
Is the Manual Tune-in top of the Sharkplay menu ?

Can you enable logging for the SharkPlayer plugin and capture a session.

    1. set Settings/Advanced/Logging plugin.sharkplay to DEBUG
    2. Do your 11:59 test and then stop SharkPlay.
    3. Copy log entries ( see Settings/Information - bottom of page ) from 11.59 onwards.

It's odd but I wonder if the windows on "F:" has meant some code has gone astray.

I recreated the problem once, then I removed the manual tune from my plugin presets to see if it started up at the 1st preset (which is an actual station URL) and I can't recreate the problem anymore... I also noticed that logging for the plugin was already set to debug. Could that make a difference? Log file is below.

The log level set to DEBUG will not do anything different - just logs a lot of messages and make the log file bigger.

If the problem comes back - get a log if you can but write a post as a recurring problem needs to be solved.

    Trouble installing sharkplay

I'm running SC 7.3.2, and when I recently heard about sharkplay, bought an rs2, installed the Griffin software, all is well. But I can't get SC to show any sharkplay menu in Extras, nor in the plugin list. Tried both manual install of 101.zip, and with ED. After ED install, ED setup shows "SharkPlay (v1.1) - Installed". I tried deleting the sharkPlay directory in the cache folder, but no matter what, still says installed.

My Windows is on drive E:, but I think fork.pm in this release should be OK?
    Suggestions welcome.
