I intend to buy a Duet Squeezebox but it lacks USB port for USB HDD(with mp3 etc)

So I think I will wait for a newer model or other brands.

If I want to buy an internet radio now, I may be looking for this.

I dislike to switch on the PC just to listen to music. NAS is too troublesome.

    bleugh, that looks ugly!

The squeezebox is a differnet product in a completely different league.

Squeezeboxes/Duets/Transporters are, by their nature, network music players. So if you don't want a PC on there's nothing here for you . . (

SqueezeNetwork is a perfectly viable option to allow access to music, especially internet radio, without a PC being turned on. The SB certainly lacks a USB port though...by design.

Yuck, those cheap ass net radios are popping up everywhere. The Squeezebox is a completely different class of product, you cant compare them.
    Cheers, auto.

but without your pc, how would you create playlists and perform other music management tasks? using a remote type interface for that would be a nightmare.

good luck, but be careful what you wish for.

If Slimdevices updates Duet receiver with USB input for HDD, I will not hesitate to buy one. Just switch on the Duet and I can listen to either Internet radio or my favorite songs almost instantaneously.

Initially wanted to buy a micro JVC player for its Bluetooth, FM radio and USB input, then read a review that the FM reception isn't good.

Then focus changed to DAB radio and then to Internet Radio.

What about purchasing a Premium Locker at mp3tunes (supported via Squeezenetwork, so no need for an always on PC, just an internet connection)? Then upload your tracks to mp3tunes which will give you not only online storage for them but also enable you to listen to either internet radio or your tracks via a Duet, without a PC/Mac running Squeezencenter. mp3tunes support most lossy formats, but not lossless.
    Who am I on LAST.FM?

Different product, different market, different audience.....

So you buy one of those products in your links and attach a USB drive.
What then happens when you buy a 2nd or a 3rd?
Each will have it's own USB drive ?

my SB system has a usb port but the port is in another room with the NAS box. Its how most people here would like it.
Transporter or Cyrus streamX>CyrusDACXP>ESPAudio P09B Active filter>Cyrus X x 2>Rhapsody, Avondale and Naim cable, Kubuntu 16.10 server, various boxes for storage.
SB3 Flycatcher 3A linear power supply. Touch also.
    Using SqueezeBoxServer (LMS) 7.9
    Also piCorePlayer>Rega DAC>B4>Avondale 260>Royd Eden Kubuntu 14.10
    also naim 32.5>hicap>140>Akroyd Coniston
