    Squeezecenter starting - forever

    I just put together a new machine running xp pro. Squeezecenter 7.0.1 is giving me trouble now. It just says "Squeezecenter starting" forever. I thought it might be the firewall so I've disabled that - no help.

    May I ask you to download and run the following file:
    http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/Troubleshooter.exe

    ....and post the result? Thanks!

    Checking availability of port 9000 (SqueezeCenter web interface):
    -> Port 9000 seems to be unused

    Probing ports to see whether a firewall is blocking:
    -> Port 9000: ok
    -> Port 9090: ok
    -> Port 3483: ok

    Let's see whether there are some well known process which might be firewall products or other applications known to be in our way:

    The End.
    This is with the firewall (avg) off.

    I've perhaps the same problem

    Microsoft passed out an XP "Windows security update" overnight, it has seemingly nuked my Slimserver too.

    I have been running 6.5. I can't get Slimserver to kick on - it shows the message "starting" for quite awhile, then stops. Tried several times to start it, no luck. I rebooted my PC, tried again, same thing happened.

    Michael, I've run your slick new diagnostic, everything reported ok.

    I'll try to reinstall 6.5 then see what happens.

    This problem has been happening since sunday when I built the machine and installed xp. Everything worked fine on the old machine, but it has never worked on the new one. And I see last nights update waiting for me to install, so I don't have it installed yet. I'm going to wait to not further complicate this if its causing a problem for you.

    I'd say SC isn't running. What about the server.log file?

    There's more than just "ok" in there. What do the other tests say? Could
    you please copy/paste the textbox?

    By the way, I reinstalled 6.5.4, then rebooted the machine, but Slimserver still won't start.
