    Hey Peter - you're a month out in the future now - can you jump another year out and tell us how this all pans out? Is the SB4 out yet?

    Thanks,

    You mean it hasn't been beaten to death yet?

    I herd that on KenRaido. I guess all on here has to to play music with the slim devices. So are they going to go after people who sell mp3 players and slim devices?

    What junk to say you can't copy the music off the CD's or your own use!

    What are the legalites of mounting a CD (original, not copy) in a drive, and
    then sharing the drive? In this case, the person sharing the drive creates
    no copies, but simpley allows access to the original CD.

    It might have been more expedient to just mention or post the link to the other thread where this topic was beaten to death. I had no idea it had been covered elsewhere.

    Minor nit: lossless codecs are never CBR

    I know this is a really minor nit, but I've noticed it for a long time.

    Slimserver displays, on the Squeezebox and the web page, the bit rate for FLAC
    and other lossless material as CBR (Constant Bit Rate). Lossless compression
    algorithms like FLAC, ALAC, Monkey's Audio, Shorten, etc, are never constant bit
    rate. They must vary with the redundancy in the audio stream.

    @Phil Karn

    Well as I read this I'm listening to Lemon Song by Led Zeppelin and the SC7 webpage and the SB3 display both say 820 VBR.
