    Removal of "silent" player capability

There is an undocumented (and largely untested) capability in SC to define a player as "silent". The intention was to allow a player to be used as a secondary user-interface device in a sync-group, without it or SC actually having to go to the bother of streaming audio and maintaining synchronization.

I plan to rip out all the associated code and drop it in the bit bucket. Scream now if you feel that it is essential to retain this capability.

    Alan.

It's undocumented, but it is requested. Best look up the bug (bit limited on resources myself or I'd have found it already)

Just because it's been requested doesn't mean it's a good idea.

all the more important to match the changes with the request so that the same stuff doesn't keep coming up every 6 months.

It was a good idea at the time, so that folks could have one SB in
the closet connected to the stereo and another out front and have
them synced without having to stream audio to both.

But since we have all kinds of handheld devices and better syncing, I
think we can punt on this going forward.

Oh I quite agree, I was just responding to kdf who said there was a ticket but he couldn't find it. Only trying to be useful

How does the shadow play plugin work - doesn't this meet the requirement
    here?
