    Digital Outs Don't Work

On 2 Squeezebox's I'm not able to get the digital out to work, coax or
optical. I've connected to a BK Components receiver and an M-Audio Super
Dac 2496. I've connected 3-5 other Digital components into these so I'm
fairly sure it's something specific with the squeezebox.

    Is there anything I'm missing?

    Digital Outs Don't Work

    Dan,

Right now Kevin and I are trying to identify a particular DAC that we
can confirm a compatibility problem. Then we'll get one in here, open
it up, and figure out what's wrong.

The problem is this has come up a couple times before (eg with a
particular Sony model) - we bought one, tested it - no problems. Got
back to the customer and he said oops - wrong input. Sounds like you've
    ruled that out though.

What I'd like to do is first just make sure that your squeezeboxen are
outputting a s/pdif signal that works with something - is there a way
you can try it with a more common receiver eg Sony, Onkyo etc? Once
we've confirmed a problem between squeezebox and BK or M-Audio, we'll
get the same equipment in here.

    Thanks,
    Sean

Ok, now that I'm thinking about it...I have a Sony DAT Deck that has
Coax/Optical in... I'll try it on that when I get home the "mine". If
there is an imcompatability, is there anything that can be done?

    Digital Outs Don't Work

Coax and Optical worked in a Sony DTC-790 DAT Deck.
    Does NOT work in:
    B & K Components AVR202
    M-Audio SuperDAC 2496

Is there a chance the squeeze will/can work with these?

I have a SuperDAC2496 too, and it doesn't work (both optical and coax).
Normally the SuperDAC gets its optical input from an EgoSys U2A from my
computer - so the optical input works on the SuperDAC.
Squeezebox->(optical)->EgoSys doesn't work too. The EgoSys U2A is an
USB device with (optical digital, coax digital, analog) * (input and
    output).

I have tested optical output from the Squeezebox using a Sony minidisc
    (MZ-R90): it works.

Analog output from the Squeezebox works, but sound quality is not as
good as that of the SuperDAC.
What external D/A converters are known to work? Any from M-audio
    (www.midiman.net)?

    Digital Outs Don't Work

We've ordered a B&K preamp to test, and will figure it out.
