I'm sure I'm not the only one who is frustrated by the inability to channel audio from other desktop apps (windows, media player, itunes, quicktime player etc) to Slimserver.
Has anyone tried audio hijack pro with slimserver as a possible solution?
I'v also read about something called soundflower...
Please, any suggestions welcome!

There's apparently something called Nicecast for OSX, as opposed to icecast for Windows.

Thanks
Have you used Nicecast?
Do I need to copy the Nicecast stream url to an itunes playlist first...or can I configure SS to play this stream directly?

Sorry, I just read about it on this forum. I don't own a Mac.

The basic idea for MacOS is to use SoundFlower to make your normal Mac output available as a source for Nicecast/Icecast, and tell your Squeezebox to tune in the Nicecast/Icecast URL.
The forums should give you more suggestions.
I've got a Mac, but it sees little use & I haven't tried setting this up on it. Closest I've come is configuring DarkIce and Icecast on Linux to make my stereo's Line Out available as an MP3 stream in my house by patching it to the computer's Line In jack. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=33086
I don't know what software you'd use on Windows to do something like SoundFlower, but it should be the same idea -- install a streaming server like Icecast/Shoutcast, and install some software like SoundFlower to feed Icecast/Shoutcast.

hmm,
thanks, I added one additional step,
I created a new streaming playlist in itunes.
In itunes:ADvanced/Open Stream..paste the url
Refreshed the playlists in Slimserver and voila!
I guess this should work with roku and other music servers as well
