    "File Format Conversion Setup" question

I am a little confused about the Home >> Server Settings >> File Types -> File Format Conversion Setup. After installation, by default everything was checked except for the boxes for teh Shorten format. What confuses me is how each format has multiple check boxes. For example, for Stream Format / Decoder, FLAC has:

    FLAC / built-in
    MP3 / flac-lame
    WAV / flac

I know the squeezebox has FLAC decoding capability, so that is what "built-in" means. And for streaming over http, it seems that everything is MP3 so this is the flac-lame. But what purpose is the WAV/flac? Also, if all three are checked, how do I know what it is sending to the Squeezebox. I want it to send FLAC (my files are FLAC) but how do I know it isn't sending MP3 or WAV?

    "File Format Conversion Setup" question

There are multiple lines becuase there are any number of client types
that might be used as players. Each player requests its supported
format in preferred order. In the case of SD players this means:

SB2/SB3/Transporter: WMA, Ogg, FLAC, Wav, mp3
    SB1/g: WAV, mp3
    SliMP3: mp3
    stream.mp3 clients: mp3

So the multiple options show the conversions that are available and
enabled on the server. Unchecked options are either missing a binary
that is required, or have been manually disabled for any number of
reasons (some issues with internet radio are solved by disabling the
built-in wma for instance). For reasons of licensing, the mp3
conversions will require the user to install their own copy of LAME or
    Lame.exe for their own system.

Thanks. I think I understand. So if I have everything for FLAC checked (and my music files are FLAC), then if I have a SB3, FLAC will be sent to it (since it is before WAV in the preference order), but if I had a SB1, it would get WAV since it doesn't support FLAC. And of course stream.mp3 (via http) will always get mp3 (if lame is installed). But if I have a music file in WAV, would it get transcoded to FLAC before being sent to my SB3, or would it remain WAV?

it will translate to FLAC so that you can conserve bandwidth.
