    Streaming with Slimserver

Hi Folks - always the same question, i know...
I use my Slimserver at home alot for my SliMP3 and also for inhouse
streaming. I use a Suse Linux 9.0 Box for that. I **really** would like to
downsize the Bitrate of my MP3s (most are 192KBit/s) so that i can stream
them over my Internet Link (would be really nice at work)
Is there any HowTo around or are such possibilities built in in the new 5.x
    Release?

    Best Regards

    Mike

    Streaming with Slimserver

    hello,

what do you mean, changing the bitrate on the fly while streaming them,
(i mean before streaming them) or a tool to reduce the bitrate
automatically for all of your mp3's on your harddisk?

edit convert.conf so that the following appears uncommented:
    mp3 mp3 http *
    $lame$ --silent --mp3input -b 32 $FILE$ -

You must have LAME installed, and restart the server. Change 32 to whatever
bitrate you want for streaming. This way, any HTTP client, such as Winamp
    or
Windows Media Player will use the above command to filter the playback
    through LAME.
    -- End Quote --

which would do what you wanted on the fly.

    Streaming with Slimserver {Scanned for Viruses}

Any way of making it do LOCAL streaming without this filter, and filter
only for IP numbers outwith my local subnet?
