Buffered Volume Control Commands - driving me crazy!

When I press the Volume up or down buttons on my remote, the system
buffers (stores) them and so after I have stopped pressing the button
it continues to increase or decrease the volume for several seconds
or more, which drives me mad and makes people think that the system
is rather unsophisticated. Is there a setting for this or does
anyone know how to stop this very annoying behaviour?

I think it "buffers" every button click (not just the volume) just like a computer OS stacks up mouse and keyboard events, so that no events get "lost" when the system is too busy to be responsive.

If it behaved the opposite of the way it does now, and only responded to button events that it had time to process, people would be complaining "I push a button and nothing happens!"

Either way, someone won't be happy.

I'm assuming you are running 6.2 or earlier?

6.5 includes some code which is intended to stop this - specifically it discards button presses which are older than a certain amount and have not been processed. However I would not "upgrade" to 6.5 just for this as it is beta and still being developed.
