It's kind of unweildy having to go to the website to copy a response

continuing the other discussion, let's try this:
as root run service slimp3 stop and make sure this isn't running.

then cd to /usr/local/slimp3 and run ./slimp3.pl

this should show you errors. if you want it to log run ./slimp3.pl
--logfile /path/to/logfile

let us know how it works out.

It worked fine starting it manually. Thanks for your help. If I was
smart, I would leave it alone for another 6 months, but I'm not, so I'll
be trying the firmware upgrade today, once the server gets through
scanning my drives.
