    netgear low cost nas

    has someone bought this one ? any comment on it with the use with slimserver ?

    Nice looking product but I doubt it would be powerful enough to run Slimserver well enough for most people.

    Plus I doubt Netgear would be willing to open it up to 3rd party applications to be run on it. Saying that I am sure it could be hacked.

    I've just read on tom's hardware that this unit only supports windows2000/xp clients via a proprietary software you have to install on each client. thumbs down for me it's a shame because it supports raid0 and raid 1...

    I was looking at NAS's about 6 months ago and ended up buying a ReadyNAS from infrant.com and have been really please with the solution. Flexible and powerful enough to run the slimserver on it, ssh so listenable from the office, windows & linux shares etc etc.

    Plus it looks good ;-)
