It wasn't the .prefs file he was talking about, but the remote .conf
file, which contains the lirc info.

I was going to say that it shouldn't matter, but apparently it does.
When initPlugins constructs the mode name it includes the ::Plugin. I
would really love to strip that off some time in the future though.

    - Support for 'TOGGLE_MASK'
I went ahead and tried out 1.1 and am happy to report that it now works with my Denon receiver. I'm not sure exactly what TOGGLE_MASK does, but it did the trick

Initially I did not realize that in order to utilize the "TEST" button, you must first hit the "CHANGE" button after selecting your remotes. It'd probably be useful to either indicate this functionality or make it so the "TEST" button works immediately after selecting a remote.

Thanks again! Now I'm anxiously awaiting support for it to send a series of buttons (so my receiver can select the propper source).

    IR Blasting test results

    Hi Greg

Thank you for the report. Good to hear another remote is working. You are right it is not obvious one has to click the change button first. I'll try to make the test buttons apply changes automatically. About selecting the correct source. My receiver allows to power on and select source with one ir command - I'm just sending the code for the source.

I finally got around installing the blaster. I want to use it with my
(old) technics receiver. I tried a couple of the technics remote
configuration files, but could not find one yet, which works :-(

I think one of the already existing ones should work, at least for the
CD player, but it doesn't. I am planning of installing the lirc
packages on my notebook (which has IR) to create my own remote file,
just to be sure to use the correct signals.

I found it kind of difficult to get the plugin working. Maybe I am
missing a post, but I had to read the source, to figure out, that I
need to use the plugin on the client and press up and down to
    enable/disable the IR blaster.

Would sending music data to the IR blaster destroy it? I probably did
that (it is very easy to make that mistake) and it would be really
annoying if the blaster would be destroyed.

    IR Blasting test results

    Hi Gerd

Thank you for trying the IR blaster.

The function you found looking at the source code about enabling / disabling blaster functionality is only there for debugging and will probably be removed in the future anyway. Blaster functionality is enabled automatically every time before sending out an IR command. Sorry for the confusion. And no, sending music should not destroy it.

Could you tell me which lirc-files you tried, so I can have a look at them? Maybe they contain something the plugin is not yet paying attention to.

And just to make sure, what firmware version do you have installed on your SB2 and on which plattform is your SlimServer running?

    Thanks
    Felix

Good :-) I was just looking, why nothing happens so I looked into the
source. Good to know that everything works automatically.

I downloaded the remotes.tar and tried the files from the 'technics'
directory. My remote is a RAK-SA302E, so I tried the RAK-SA612WH,
RAK-RX309W and RAK_SU129WH. Today I tried EUR64798, which is actually
the remote of my CD player. Still no success :-(

Because the EUR64798 really should work, I either do something wrong,
the blaster doesn't work or those remotes don't work yet. I would be
glad, if you could look into the lirc-files.

I am currently running the Firmware 21 from subversion revision 4231.
And the slimserver is running on Debian Linux.

    Hope that helps.

    IR Blasting test results

    Hi Gerd

Let's first try whether your IR blasting setup is ok. Please try the following:

    - Attach the ir emitter in front of your SB2 (on the right side where the ir reciever is)
    - Select 'slim' as Device and 'power' as Button for the Volume Up: line in the web interface.
    - Leave all other settings to '--- disabled ---'.
    - Click 'change'
    - Click the 'Test' button.

Now your SB2 should toggle on and off.

    Thanks
    Felix

P.S. Also make sure you put your config file into the 'IRBlastTest' directory and check if the extension is .conf

Neat idea. Yes, the SB2 toggles on and off. At least it tries to go
on, but it just blinks and goes into off mode again. But I doubt it
has something to do, with the IR blaster. When I choose 'pause'
instead of 'power' it switches between pause and play nicely.

So, the IR blaster seems to work. Good news ...

    Thanks,
    Gerd

    Hi all

Check out the latest version of the IRBlastTest plugin (v1.6) which adds multiple IR commands per action.

    www (dot) gwendesign (dot) com/slimserver/dev_hard_and_software.htm#irblaster

Gerd: I've probably found something which prevents your Technics CD player from accepting the IR commands sent by IR blaster. Need to check with Slim Devices.

Working fine on my WinXP, Felix.

I found that I need 0.25 seconds delay on Power (using sleep.hold) and then 1 second for changing over to Tape input selector. The receiver seems to have a delay in powering up and recognizing the input selectors. 1 second was the minimum delay to make it work.

I have not tried making one button control several devices, yet, e.g. mute the tv, turn on the receiver, and select tape input. (Need to get the codes for our old Magnavox set.)

Thank you for getting this together so quickly.
