Mount SB2 upside down - rotate display text

I would like to mount the SB2 upside down under a shelf in the kitchen. This gives me two problems:

    1. How to fasten the device mechanically. This can be solved in several ways. This is not a big issue, but it would have helped with some keyhole mountings or similar.

    2. The text must be rotated on the display. Anyone know how to change this in the Slimserver code? Is it possible at all?

    Ideas, anyone?

rotating the text is not that simple, since much of the character generation and
    animations are in the firmware.

Why not build in a cubby-hole or a small shelf hanging under the counter and
just leave the SB2 right-side-up. There isn't much heat generated by the
device, but there is some. It would be easier letting that flow as designed,
plus if you ever want to do anything with the device, or upgrade to a newer
one, it is still easily removed.

Why does it have to be upsidedown? Because the bottom isnt pretty enough?

Use velco to stick it to the bottom.

    You have two subproblems here.
On SB1/g and SB2, the characters are bit mapped graphics. So
you can change the bitmaps and get new, upside down graphics.
    Pretty easy.

But then you have to make the characters flow backwards.

I don't know if the code to support right-to-left
character streams is finished. It is needed to support Hebrew, Arabic,
    and some other encodings.

I think I'd go for velcro on the top and not bother looking
    at the underside.

But you can do it all if you must

Display rotation sounds like a fabulous idea! I know Slim Devices used
to offer an under mount kit for the original SliMP3 but not the
SqueezeBoxes. I think display rotation in software would be just as
good or even better solution. I don't know if it is possible though.

If the wire going to the display is long enough, wouldn't the easiest
solution be to crack the case and flip the display?

I suspect you might need a longer cable (if it's anything like my recollection of the SB1 internals; I haven't opened my SB2 yet), but certainly not impossible. Someone in another thread was looking for (and found, ISTR) a longer display cable for use in a custom case.

That will work, but you'll need to clip off a couple of the tabs on
the top and bottom case that hold the board in place. The tabs in
question are in the middle of the case (the ones on the ends can be
    left in place).

It looks like you might be able to flip the display board over within the case.
