I have been on the lookout for a good pair of powered
speakers for a couple of spaces in my house Spa area
and garage to be specific. I stumbled on a pretty
good solution that I wanted to pass on.

My 6 year old Dell came with a pair of Altec Lansing
ACS495 that seem to work great. The speakers consist
of two desktop and one subwoofer. They have two
inputs which I currently use one for Squeezebox and
the other when I want just to plug in my iPod (no need
to plug and inplug as it has two inputs). The sound
is great but not perfect and not audiophile in the
least bit but the price is right. You can pick up a
pair of Altec Lansing ACS495 with the subwoofer for
about $50 on eBay or maybe cheaper at a wholesale
computer parts place. The solution kisks ass on any
of those lame "portable" iPod speakers (I think the
sound on those blows).

Just a thought I wanted to pass on.
