    Dodgy headphone connection on SB2?

I don't usually use headphones, but I wanted to hear how close the synchronisation was between my SB1 and SB2, and to try to compare the audio quality difference between the two devices.

I detected a bit of crackly sound on the left ear, and as I checked the jack plug was fully inserted, the left ear completely dropped out. I found I had to wiggle it into a good position to make a good contact - it felt a little loose. These are Sennheiser HD535 headphones. I tried connecting it to the SB1, and the connection was fine even giving the connection a little careful wiggle as a test.

I haven't got any other headphones to hand at the moment to test the SB2 connector more thoroughly, and I'm not particularly bothered, as the SB2 is going in the lounge and I don't often use headphones (if I do I can use the HiFi Amp headphone jack). But I just wondered if anyone else had experienced dodgy connections. Is the connector part different to the SB1?

That's odd - they both use the same connector from the same
supplier.... contact support (AT) slimdevices (DOT) com if it's a concern.

I just tried this again with some different headphones. Actually, I was wrong before - it's the right channel that appears to be faulty, not the left.

The same phones also work fine with the SB1, so it looks like there's something wrong with my nice new friend. I can't imagine being without it for weeks on end waiting for a new supply to hit the UK shores. :-(

I received my SB2 from broadbandstuff a couple of days ago and hadn't tried the headphone socket until I read this thread. I only get the left channel unless I jiggle the plug. I too will miss the little beasty - unless they could send me a replacement in advance :-)
A phone call tomorrow morning is in order.

Hmmm, I received mine from Broadbandstuff yesterday morning. Maybe there's a dodgy batch.

If we order replacements, what's the chance that they simply send us a new faulty one?

Well mine should be arriving from them tomorrow(!!!!!), so I'll keep you posted.

PS Five exclamation marks? Yes, a sure sign of insanity and, I feel, justified after over a month's waiting!

What did broadbandstuff say? Have they got any stock left? I didn't get a chance to call them yesterday.

Hmm, I only get output on the left channel unless I really wiggle the connector about and pull it out slightly. Looks like broadband stuff have a bad batch. Time for an email to them and slim support...

I've just tried another pair of headphones. Again, only the left channel worked. The right channel just got a clicking noise that triggered every time the right needle of the vu meter moved to the right, almost like someone hitting a pair of claves to the rhythm.
