    "Line In" plugin?

Is there a plugin, or another method I'm missing to use SlimServer to stream audio coming in from the line in jack on my soundcard? I'm looking for a way to hook my sirius tuner up to my slimserver. Ultimately, of course, I'd like to push the title info to the displays, but for now, just line in is a good start.

What would be better is a true Sirius Plugin.

There are several people who wrote Sirius streaming players for the PC! It shouldn't be a big deal for someone who has knowledge of perl and the Slim SDK to craft one for SlimServer.

Here's a multiplatform player for Sirius written in Python with FULL source:

Here's another one written for Dot Net:

This is a requested enhancement, and the comments already have a couple
suggestions. However, no such plugin, third party or built-in, exists as yet.

Bradley, Thanks for the links. Translating the python to perl now... hopefully the slimserver api won't be too difficult to figure out. I imagine I should have the beginnings of a sirius streaming plugin in the next week or so (depending on my free time).

    Sirius Satellite Radio Plugin!

    Dude:

I'm totally psyched. I've been dying for someone to write this plugin. When I saw the python source for XPlay I thought it would be a slam dunk for a perl guru.

Everything is there -- how to login and get security tokens from Sirius, how to get the song information, how to spawn off mplayer to play the stream -- all well documented by the author.

Guys on the forum like kdf and Triode should be able to give you a boost in the Slim Plugin SDK department. Triode is intimately involved in AlienBBC which uses mplayer to play BBC Radio streams. So the knowledge base is there for you to tap.

I'm happy to help you beta test it when it's ready. Keep me posted.

    Line in is easy!

use winamp, with shoutcast!, and just make a pls for your local station!

i actually use Simplecast, to my shoutcast server on the same machine as slimserver
