    Alarm not working with 8.3?

    > Again, an alarm out of 3 radios failed this morning - with no back up.

That last remark actually is a good point: when mine failed there wasn't
any backup either. Which firmware are you using on your Radios?

Joining in, that is what got me puzzled about this topic. My wife is a pretty light sleeper and she usually wakes up just from the little `plop` as the Radio starts preparing to play the alarm. My guess would be that if you are someone that never heard that `plop` you are likely to experience failure to play the track and the absence of a built-in backup in the Radio as a missed alarm.

Also, how do you all set the alarms? My wife is pretty stubborn and always changes the alarm settings on Radio itself. If you change it on the LMS side instead I suppose a communications issue would lead to Radio keeping its original next alarm and only switch to the new schedule after having fired that one. That appears to be in line with the remark that rebooting Radio causes it to accept the new schedule directly.

Couldn't stop laughing after reading about plop.. Thats indeed pretty light sleeping..I though..

Turns out my other half also sometimes wakes to that plop.. Lol

Anyway alarm didn't work today again.. Was fine yesterday .. STD original firmware..

We wonder if the plop was present but as I need about 3 different alarm clocks to wake me up I will never know ;p

I am happy that I found this thread, as I observed the same issue and I first attributed it to my specific setup.

I have been using the daily alarm for more than a decade without any problems.

Approximately 1-2 months ago it failed for the first time (no backup alarm either). This fits pretty well to the timing of the first post, which doesn't look like a coincidence considering 10 years of use. I played around with the radio alarm, including rebooting the radio, but sometimes it failed, sometimes not. It looked to me as if the group player feature was involved (when the radio belonged to a group as last activity before the alarm, the alarm didn't work, when the radio had been on its own before the alarm, the alarm worked and woke-up the radio). After rebooting the server, the alarm worked as before.

However this morning the alarm failed again. Also the alarm failed on a second radio. Playing around with the radios I realized that they were very slow and non-responsive. rebooting the radios did not resolve the problem, but rebooting the server resolved the problem today. I couldn't verify my theory about "group players plugin". No obvious error in the logs - going forward I will switch the alarm debugging on.
I am on the latest radio community firmware and using a raspberry pi server with the latest 8.3 LMS. I did not install any new plugin firmware before the first failure, I just updated LMS and the already installed plugins regularly.
In both failure cases plugin-updates and a new LMS update were pending.

    Alarm not working with 8.3?

What player types is everybody using?

Is anybody in this thread (haven't read it again) using a Classic
    player, or Boom/Receiver/Transporter?

Do you mean specifically for alarms or just in the system setup...

I have Boom connected and in use on my 8.3 system but it is not used for any alarms.

Only Squeezebox Radios have alarms configured

    8.3 system
1x Touch Firmware 8.0.1-r16862 (alarm not in use)
1x Boom Firmware 57 (alarm not in use)
1x SB Radio (Kitchen) Firmware 7.7.3-r16676 (alarm not in use)
1x SB Radio (Bedroom2) Firmware 8.0.1-r16855 - alarm intermittently fails

    8.2.1 system
1x SB Radio Firmware 7.7.3-r16676 - no alarm issues

I've now added an alarm to the SB Radio (Kitchen) on the 8.3 system to see how one with the official firmware behaves.

Once I've got some data from that I'll complete the poll.

    Cheers

    Kev

Just to follow up on this, over the last 5 days on LMS 8.3 alarms have intermittently failed to trigger on both SB Radios - community firmware and official firmware.

Still no issues on our SB Radio daily alarm on the LMS 8.2.1 setup - has worked every day.

    Off to the poll now.
