I don't like picking up an iPhone or iPad to do simple quick functions during music playback such as volume and pause on a Squeezebox Touch.
I would also like to avoid the use of the Duet Controller.
Whereas iPeng for example is excellent - I would rather use a simple little plastic r/c for volume and pause.
I would like this control over IP because my SBT is not line of sight.
Perhaps there is an IP learning remote that can work this way.
Thanks.
(I'm assuming the Logitech Harmony range does not work over RF IP otherwise this would be my choice).

A Harmony hub based remote might work as hub could "talk" IR to Touch. (https://www.logitech.com/en-us/produ...15-000239.html )

This old thread might help with ideas

If your LMS is running on a Raspberry Pi and that can be in line of sight then adding an infrared receiver to it and then using that to control a specific player (the player does not have to be running on the LMS server) becomes cheap and relatively easy to do.Paul Webster

It looks like this is how you did it using Wi-Fi
A radio remote with USB dongle that emulates a keyboard should be possible as well ... but it would be driving Squeezelite or Jive ... which in turn would talk to LMS.
For example ... I have a B&W USB speaker that came with its own wireless remote

See the rest of the thread.
In my case it was not wifi with the B&W speakers - but that was simply an example of a wireless remote (I think it uses infrared but I don't have it to hand).
In that particular case the speakers plugged into a Linux player running SqueezePlay via USB.
The remote acts like a "HID" and SqueezePlay was happy enough with the commands.
If you search the forum for other posts of people using IR to connect to a Raspberry Pi running pCP you will see how to teach the OS to interpret regular TV-style remotes.Paul Webster

All Squeezebox device I have bought came with a remote control.
The Duet has a wifi control instead of IR.
