Kevin,
I know nothing about perl or the slimsoft development environment, but I am
interested in the ability to use the squeezebox and squeezebox remote to
command other devices and I've learnt more through discovering a few
problems with execute than if it had just worked first time
So thanks!

that's because they arent
the plugin API is vastly superior now compared to what it was back then. I
honestly think you are the first person who seemed to be interested in using
this for anythign more than calling a shutdown command. I appreciate all
the
debugging efforts. I am surprised that none of it has been noticed in
nearly
two years
I'll drop in the fixes you have mentioned, and I'll look into the defaults
for
the player settings.

well, then you can count on me for a great learning experience any time!
You should check out the XPL support as well. it can be enabled under server
settings->network. Of course, the only think I know about it is that it is
supposed to allow you to control outside devices
