    Remplacement Squeezebox receiver

    Hello,

    You'll need:
    - RPi 4B-2GB (4GB preferred), power supply, microSD card
    - an add-on board that provides optical output
    - an RPi case large enough to contain both the RPi and the add-on board
    - optical audio cable to connect to optical input on Yamaha

Many of these items are available at https://www.audiophonics.fr/

piCorePlayer is a great choice for player/server OS:
    https://docs.picoreplayer.org/getting-started/

Everything will be more reliable, and library scans quicker, if you connect your RPi to your network using ethernet cable rather than wifi.

    Or, just buy these:

Yes, and there are less expensive options available from HiFiBerry and Audiophonics.

If you also get a case, be sure it has the proper cutouts so that the connections to the add-on board are accessible.

Thanks, any recommendations for a case?

There are few that are large enough to accommodate the add-on board; HiFiBerry offers two: one plastic, one metal.

If you only want a player - some users have used Pi Zero or Zero W as a basis

    edit:

Getting a suitable case for board and HAT is probably the main issue.
