Bizarre timeshifting fault with Bayerischer Rundfunk HLS streams

    Hi all.

This one is a real head-scratcher.

I recently put all the Bayerischer Rundfunk HLS streams in my Favourites on LMS. I chose the HLS streams because they are better quality than the 'standard' MP3 streams; for example BR Klassik streams at 192 kb/s AAC. However, I noticed recently that they were not playing the same as when played on the computer, either directly from the BR website, or via the urls copied & pasted into VLC. The LMS version was going to the news at the top of the hour, and I have just listened to the stream of Bayern 2, to see what time was announced. At 8 pm GMT/9 pm CET the announcement 'sechzehn uhr' came up, which equates to 4 pm CET/3 pm GMT. So for some bizarre reason the streams as played via LMS are some 5 hours behind the same streams played via the computer.

As an example, could people try this stream on their Squeezebox devices please?:

    https://mcdn.hf.br.de/br/hf/b2sued/master.m3u8

This is the Bayern 2 SŘd webstream. The exact same stream played via LMS and the computer shows that through LMS it is timeshifted by -5 hours. Does anyone else get the same result? As far as I can see, all the BR streams on LMS are doing this.

Thanks. If anyone can explain what is going on I'd love to know. And if so, is there a solution to get LMS to play the streams without the 5 hour 'latency'?

What plugin and version are you using to play HLS streams ?

There was a problem with earlier version of V2.* where playing would start from the first playable segment of the stream rather than the last playable segment and some stations can have many hours of buffered audio to enable users to skip back in time.

Just checked - the supplied URL has a list of 6000 3 sec segments which is 5 hours of buffered audio.

Hi bpa. I'm using v2.2. Maybe that's an old version but I've never been prompted to update it.

    Thanks.

I don't know. It appears in the list like this:

    Name: p2uyeijn7aqi.png
Views: 56
Size: 8.6 KB

There's nothing clickable to determine any url or settings.

The repo URL is at the bottom the plugins tab.

    V2.8 is the current version.

The repo to use at the bottom of the Plugins tab is

    https://mcdn.hf.br.de/br/hf/b2sued/master.m3u8

V1.* is still the "default" option as V2.* cannot handle many versions of HLS compared to ffmpeg which is used by V1.*

Aha. Thanks. I'd forgotten about that. The repo URL is:

    http://bpa-code.github.io/bpaplugins...ls-v2-beta.xml

That link you've given me is the url for the stream I've been trying. Is that right?

Thanks. That looks like v2.8. I'll try that.
