Recently got a used duet receiver, so still seeing "what's what"

I read here that the subject of multi-channel Flac files seem to be a possible work in progress..! So just wondering if there has been an update. The optical out is allowing me to play ONE multi-channel FLAC and then seems to hang the duet receiver up, so a reboot is required..

If as mentioned those years ago, the 'best workaround' is to wrap the multi-channel tracks in DTS as a stereo track file, Is this something Foobar2000 or similar can do..?
Any thoughts on this issue and ideas in general about the requirement after these years gone by...
