Mix Radio with locally stored media?

    Hello,

Is it possible to mix in locally stored media files with Internet radio feeds? I'd like to randomly or periodically listen to some of my ripped media intermixed with streams I listen to from the Internet.

    Thanks for your help everyone!

    Sort of ...

If you install "Don't Stop The Music" plugin and configure it to only use your local music ... and then you enable it for your player ... and then you play an internet radio station where LMS shows track details including the length of the track (e.g. try playing FIP from my "Radio France" plugin) ... then I think you will see additional tracks appear in your playlist as the first track from the radio station gets near to the end.

The radio station will continue playing until you hit "Next" at which point you will be playing whatever the DSTM process selected.

However, I think the extra tracks are based on the first track that you play not the last one - and to get back to the radio station you would have to select it again.

That's certainly possible. But once you hit a radio station, that stream
is never ending. Anything past that entry in your playlist would not be
    reached unless you change manually.

Thanks for the reply, mherger. Your tips and comments on the forums here are fabulous and much appreciated. You've helped me many times.

So....it seems that I can't achieve the goal of starting radio play which is then auto-magically :-) interspersed with media from my stored library.

Hmmmm. I'm actually surprised by this. LMS is such a wonderfully maleable tool for media management. Wish I knew python so I could make a module/library to allow this to happen!

A few years back there actually was a plugin doing this kind of thing
(but limited to offerings by Swiss national radio, IIRC). It would allow
to program a list of live radio shows, podcasts, local music etc. using
timers and other triggers. But it's still an open idea for development
    at this point.

No need to know python! LMS is written in Perl :-D.

Lol. As I typed <<Python>> I knew I was incorrect but hit <<Submit>> anyways.

Would love to contribute to LMS in return for my enjoyment of it but not sure I could learn Perl fast / well enough to be of much use!

i solved this approach the other way around. My need was to play a internet stream (news) and then switch back to local music. Did this with a script and the help of the awesome tool squeezy.
