    "errorNeedsClient" entries in server log

    I'm seeing this:-

    [21-10-15 22:33:29.1045] Slim::Web::Cometd::handler (421) errorNeedsClient: 00:00:00:00:00:00, status, -, 10, menu:menu, useContextMenu:1, subscribe:600
    [21-10-15 22:33:31.5838] Slim::Web::Cometd::handler (421) errorNeedsClient: 00:00:00:00:00:00, status, -, 10, menu:menu, useContextMenu:1, subscribe:600

    every few seconds in server.log. I have seen the query at

    https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...rorneedsclient

    but, as you can see, the MAC address given in my case is 00:00:00:00:00:00 so I'm a bit stumped as to what the missing controller could be. It appears this has been going on for some time, but I've only just spotted it.

    This is on LMS Version 8.2.0 - 1627922070 running on a Pi4 using PiCorePlayer v 8.0.0.

    I don't run Squeezelite on this device, it's just a server, but I wondered whether LMS was looking for a phantom local controller on the same device. As an experiment I started Squeezelite and went back to check server.log. The errors continue with Squeezelite running on the Pi4, so it isn't that.

    Any ideas welcome, please.

    This is not LMS looking for something, but a client requesting
    information for a player with the given MAC address. This client could
    potentially be a web browser. If you enable logging for network.cometd
    you'd likely get to see the client's IP address.

    Thanks - that was the clue I needed. :-)

    The requests were coming from my Controller. It has been working fine so I didn't know anything was wrong, but when I dug into the settings it looks as if a firmware update had failed and the device had got itself into a strange state. Rather than spend ages trying to fix it I did a factory reset and installed the firmware again, and now all is sweetness and light - I have a nice empty server.log.

    Thanks for your help with this, and all that you and others do to keep Squeezeboxes going - I don't know where we would be without you.
