    Intermittent issue with radio stream on SB2

    Guy's I have been listening to a local sports radio stream on my SB2 from my home office for years. Lately it work intermittently, if it works, it works all day. otherwise I get the following error message while selecting "Problem: can't open file for" message. Other Pi based players in the house can open the "favorite" stream. Below is the stream assigned in my favorites:

    http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?...8ad36938078608

    I have tried opening the same station/stream via the iHeartradio plugin and get the same error message. Other radio stations play just fine on the SB2. Below is the radio stream log output. I am running LMS 8.2.1- 1632112486 within a jail in TrueNAS.

    This looks to be a Canadian station CFGO
    The stream is AAC which SB cannot play natively and so needs an LMS to transcode - if connection fails you'll probably get the "can't open file " message.

    iHeart Radio plugin is just a lookup for URL - it does not play the station. However when using iHeart it shows there is a AAC URL and two HLS format URLs as well

    The AAC URL
    Code:
    http://playerservices.streamtheworld.com/pls/CFGOAMAAC.pls
    The AAC (48k ?) playlist URL has the following URLs -
    Code:
    File1=http://20263.live.streamtheworld.com:80/CFGOAMAAC_SC
    File2=http://20263.live.streamtheworld.com:3690/CFGOAMAAC_SC
    File3=http://17343.live.streamtheworld.com:80/CFGOAMAAC_SC
    File4=http://17343.live.streamtheworld.com:3690/CFGOAMAAC_SC
    When playing the playlist - each URL will be tried in turn and so you can get multiple error messages if they fail to play.

    Rather than use the Tune-in URL (which has levels of indirection) - I'd try the individual URLs above.
    Multiple URLS are for load sharing - so it may explain the different log messages as these URL may be overloaded.

    Since you running LMS but on a NAS you could install the PlayHLS V2.* (V1 version required ffmpeg) after adding the plugin repository URL ( http://bpa-code.github.io/bpaplugins...playhls-v2.xml )

    In theory HLS URL for your station may provide a better service (e.g. 128k) but I can only play the 32k variant.
    Code:
    http://playerservices.streamtheworld.com/api/livestream-redirect/CFGOAM_ADP.m3u8
    https://playerservices.streamtheworld.com/api/livestream-redirect/CFGOAM_ADP.m3u8

    Strange to have different URLs in different aggregators.

    MP3 URL
    Code:

    Thanks everyone, I appreciate all the quick responses (NHL season starts this week LOL) . The following string provided seems to work perfectly with the SB2

    Thank's again!

    I can't see why there should be a significant difference between first URL and the latest URL.

    Omitting the http the difference can be seen.
    Code:
    opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s12321&formats=aac,ogg,mp3,wmpro,wma,wmvoice&partnerId=16&serial=69377127c59e4cc2eb8ad36938078608
    opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s12321&formats=aac,ogg,mp3,wma,wmvoice&partnerId=16&serial=6e11c323ea94f1301d5db3dd3d636240
    The "serial"=" is irrevelant - it seems to identifies the requesting user/app but the results are usually same if it is different.
    The "id=" identifies the station - so it is the same.
    The only difference is in the "formats" which has the omission of "wmpro" (aka MS WMA Pro) - none of the station URLs we found was a MS WMA so it should never have appeared in the results and so make no difference.

    I would not be confident the new URL is any different - just perhaps station has increased its bandwidth as you say NHL has just started.

    So I created a 2nd "favorite" which is the one that is working now:

    the original one below still does not work, but has worked quite recently:

    This is a single playable URL - so it is very easy to know that it works.

    The pls URLS each have 4 URLs
    Code:
    [playlist]
    File1=http://20263.live.streamtheworld.com:80/CFGOAMAAC_SC
    File2=http://20263.live.streamtheworld.com:3690/CFGOAMAAC_SC

    Title1=CFGOAMAAC_SC
    Title2=CFGOAMAAC_SC-Bak
    Length1=-1
    NumberOfEntries=4
    So when you try the Tune in playlist - LMS will work its way through up to maybe 13 URLs trying each one in turn - each with a timeout - so if any "early" URL works it seems to play OK but if you don't wait maybe 20mins to try all the URLs , it will seem to have failed.
