    Your "smartpi" needs to be connected to your local network.

    You could set it up to run in WAP mode > piCorePlayer > Wifi settings page > WAP Mode. Good luck with that one.

    seriously

    Since that i be outside relaxing without internet connection at all, can i just connect my usb flash drive to the pi itself and listing to my music that way.

    Short answer is No.

    You don't need to be connected to the internet, but you do need to be connected to your local network.

    Unless you set it up in WAP mode.
