RPi w.Hifiberry AMP2, 7" touchscreen (Squeezelite + Jivelite): sometimes no sound

    Hi guys

One of my players does not output any sound on a regular basis.
This happens in about 1 of 3 times when restarting playback, also when switching from streaming radio to my own collection.

Rebooting pCP does fix this in about 1 of 3 times.
Sometimes Squeezelite does not start but even when started there is no sound.
This problem is going on for quite a long time - if not always on that player - but have never taken the time to look at it.
I always hoped that it would go away with a new version of pCP but unfortunately it did not.
One thing I tried is to automatically reboot the system over night, hoping this would make any difference, also to no avail.

Is there a way to trace this problem?
    Any help is highly appreciated!
    R.

How is everything connected to the network.

    Server?
    Players?

    If wifi, router model?

    Are players synced?

    Hi Paul

The one that has the problem is connected through ethernet.
    All players are always synced.

I have experienced playback issues because of 1 player having a bad connection.
This problem seems different: I'm 99,9% sure it's related to this single device.
When I reboot it and all goes well, even before Jivelite is loaded so still in CLI mode, sound is audible.
In the other cases, nothing happens and the other players work fine.

I unmounted the AMP2 once and seated it again, thinking it might be a bad connection but obviously it's not that.
When this happens between songs from my own collection, it seems that this is between different types/bitrates/... so not when playing a full cd.

I hope you can do something with this information.

Syncing devices is very much a problem when all of the devices are not the same, and connected differently to the network.

You can try changing which one is the master.

Now I started playback (from being paused) and this particular one is not playing anything.
The screen is active (difference in sceensaver in Jivelite between playing and not) but no sound.
The others play without any problem.

Unsyncing them stop the playback on the others and on this one, playback continues (progress bar, next title) but without sound.

Is it not that when there are sync problems, that playback is choppy on ALL players?
Maybe I should not have used the word 'hiccups' in my description...

So it's just no sound on the hifiberry. Does it ever play sound.

With hifiberry product, the easiest troubleshooting is to burn the hifiberryOS image that they supply and run the tests that they supply to test the card.

It looks like just no sound from the AMP2 but not sure it's related to that.
Rarely the system stops producing sound between different sources/file types.
It happens mostly when resuming playback.

I found the hifiberryOS dowloads, does it contain a testsuite?
Can I leave the touchscreen connected to the RPi?
