Would a Raspberry Pi3 B+ suit the OP's application ? I believe it has 1GB ram, rather than the 2GB/4GB/8GB of the Pi4. But perhaps easier on the purse, and if it works well enough...

I'm still using a 3B+ every day in the office. It's plenty powerful for
my 20k tracks and some online music integration.
Totally agree on this. Also running Pi3-B+
Also agree on the sd card part. I'm always using video or industrial graded cards and since then I have never had a corrupted sd card.
If possible use a Ups as power source so short power outages can be bridged.

Yes, cable is the preferred method for LMS.

Though I've got a couple of Phillipe's wi-fi only SqueezeAmps (for the fun of supporting such a great project), this is one thing that makes me a tad reluctant to try the PolyVection "replacement" LMS / Player route - again (subject to correction!) wifi only, at least for the players. While recently I've had great wi-fi performance with my various systems, I still find that for "serious" listening of big FLAC tracks (especially long-form music), cabled LAN is the way to be set up.
