    Scanner terminating unexpectedly

    Hi!

    As the LMS reached "end of life" on synology, I yesterday bought a Raspberry PI 4 with 8 GB and setup the LMS 8.2 beta there on a Raspberry PI Buster image. I have managed to connect all my 4 Squeezebox Radios, my Squeezebox Boom and my Squeezebox Touch to it. But I have the same problem I had with the Synology version of LMS -- the scanner does not run through the whole collection. Instead, it "terminates unexpectedly" and I don't know, what to check and how to fix it.

    the last lines I see in the scanner.log file are:
    Code:
    [21-08-03 22:27:23.9962] Audio::Scan::scan (64) Warning: APE: [Tag larger than maximum possible size] /mnt/media/Music/Library/Compilations/__ Latin Music/__ Latino!/Latino! - (2012) Vol. 047/10 - Vena - Party Rock Anthem.mp3

    [21-08-03 22:27:24.7038] Audio::Scan::scan (64) Warning: APE: [Tag larger than maximum possible size] /mnt/media/Music/Library/Compilations/__ Latin Music/__ Latino!/Latino! - (2012) Vol. 047/18 - Vena - Senora (Dj Koko Remix).mp3
    does this mean, "Latino! - (2012) Vol. 047" is broken? Or is it the folder after it? Or how can I make the scanner run through the whole collection? Anything else I should post here?

    I prepare my files ( MP3 / M4A / FLAC ) with MP3Tag (basic cleanup and BPM) and later MusicBee (mostly volume-fixes).

    Thanks!

    Hi annomatik

    My reply to an essentially similar question last year Ś at https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...l=1#post978819 Ś may or may not be of help. Hopefully the former.
    Duet x 3, via various hi-fi. LMS running on Raspberry Pi OS (Debian 10) + OMV on a Pi4 (4GB RAM) in an Argon Neo case.

    Thank you, that got me on the right track, the problem is fixed. What I did:

    1) enable "info-level" logging for "scan.auto" and for "scan.import" ( Settings -> Advanced -> Logging )
    2) start a "Rescan Media library" (Clear library and Rescan everything).
    3) As soon, as in Info the information about termination showed up, I looked at the last line of the info log, that showed the offending file
    4) I looked at the file. And in all of the cases, one or more files of that album had "additional APE tags" of some sorts
    5) I opened MP3Tag, it also has a column "Tag", where it shows the tag-types used in the file
    6) For the files having "APE" tags in them ( I then opened the whole album with the offending APE tags in them ), I selected the line with the offending track, pressed Ctrl-X (cut tags) and Ctrl-V (paste tags), that way, only the "useful" tags where pasted back in
    7) I did an incremental search (Look for new and changed media files) and got rid of all the superfluous APE tags.

    In future, I'll have a close look at that "tag" column in MP3Tag when adding stuff.

    Thank you!
