I had that too and saw some messages in dmesg-log "bcm2708_fb soc:fb: Failed to allocate GPU framebuffer (-22)"...
So, I only update the eeprom of my Pi4B+

    Code:
    tc@pCP:/mnt/mmcblk0p2/tce/optional$ pcp-rpi-eeprom-update -a
    pCP rpi-eeprom package version: v1.0

Install the extension pciutils.tcz and use this description of th piCorePlayer 7.0.0 -> https://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...rePlayer-7-0-0
and it works on piCorePlayer 8.0

And now, I've no more busybox-messages...
and my eeprom ist up to date...

I get the busybox error even when the "output setting" field is not empty. Used to work under 7.0.1. Setup is a RPi 4 with an Aureon XFire HD 8.0 USB soundcard. I run a custom /etc/asound.conf for a multiroom audio system:

    Code:
    #########################################################################
    ## CUSTOM ASOUND.CONF by mfd https://knx-user-forum.de/member/7968-mfd

    ## Channel splitting your UA0099 USB sound card to get up to four

Despite the error, everything seems to work as it should. It just takes a lot longer to boot. I'd be grateful for any ideas on how to fix this.

The error happens because we assume when you are using USB audio the "Output setting" field will contain the card name.

We will have to add more code to handle the exceptions better.

Using ALSA equalizer will probably break it as well.

There is a small chance this might work in "Output setting" field ??? (Not tested)

    stereofront:CARD=yourcardname

Where "yourcardname" is determined by looking under "Output setting" > "more>" help

    Might be stereofront:CARD=HD

If I try equalizer, none of the output options I can pick work. Squeezelite won't start

I tried that and squeezelight wouldn't start. Here is what output devices I am shown:

sysdefault works also, but gives me the busybox error as well. Is some extra code to handle these sort of exception in the foreseeable future or should I just go back to 7.0.1 where it worked?

Sorry, the ALSA equalizer was just a red herring. I mentioned it for others reading the thread that have the same problem as you but caused by ALSA equalizer.
