There were a few oddities with upgrades, but a new image defaults to Headphones. What else is installed.? Only WiFi?

This is a Pi A+ that I use with analog output in an old transistor radio to make a portable player. The player connects to the wifi network, Squeezeplayer is running, and "Headphones" is the selected output device. I tried different output settings, but that made no difference.

If I hit play, there is no audio output and the playback indicator doesn't move from zero, i.e. playback doesn't commence.

I also tried a clean install of pCP8, and that shows the same behavior. If I reinstall pCP7, everything works.

All my other players use a HAT of one type or another, and these all work, which leads me to suspect that using analog output might be my problem.
Audio output device settings = Headphones
    Output setting = hw:CARD=Headphones
    ALSA setting = 80::0:

Should be your settings. This is the default for pCP8.0.0.

Just tested on my RPiA+ and can confirm that the *default* settings play music through "Headphones".

I tried a fresh install on a new card, and now it works.

I guess my old card is getting worn out.

    Thanks for the quick replies.

Actually, I don't think the card was my problem.

There seems to be an odd interaction between the Tweaks page and the ALSA settings. If I toggle the LMS control bar on or off, after the automatic squeezelite restart, the ALSA settings are blank, and of course there is no playback. if I re-enter the settings manually, all is well.

Wow, donĺt do that anymore. That bug is several versions old. Thanks for the info, so we can squash that one.

lms and squeezelite failed to start after upgrade

Buglet - not urgent - but in case someone else has this problem:

I have a pi4 running squeezelite and lms - the lms library is on a locally mounted usb drive.

I also have a nas share version of the lms library, mounted over nfs. (it dosn't need to be mounted - that's just how I used to do it..)

The nfs mount was failing, as I had renamed the nfs resource, but had failed to change the mount in pcp.

after in-situ upgrade from 7.0.1 to 8, lms and squeezelite failed to start automatically (but started fine via
    the picoreplayer web interface).

I corrected the nfs mount in pcp, and now everything starts as it should after reboot.

Yes, if you have music mounted, and the mount fails, LMS will not start. You could have library issues otherwise, requiring a complete rescan.

pCP8 with RPi 7" DSI or other DPI display + HDMI Audio

So I've made some progress here, there is no one generic setting that works for all.

You will need to edit the config.txt on the boot partition.
    1. Comment out or delete the line gpu_mem=xxx
    2. add a line at the end max_framebuffers=2
    3. add a line at the end display_default_lcd=1
    4. add a line at the end framebuffer_priority=0 (For RPi 7" DSI LCD screen)

If you are using a 3rd party DPI screen like the "Hyperpixel" Then you will want to set frambuffer_priority=1.
